8th Grade English Rules and Guidelines

A. Class Supplies:

1.  Folder with pockets

2.  Notebook paper

3.  Black and red pens, pencil

4.  A highlighter

5.  Glue Stick

6.  1 box of Kleenex

*All of your class supplies, along with the textbook, vocabulary workbook, novel, etc.  MUST be brought to class EVERYDAY.  These items are your responsibity!

B.  Class Procedures

       All students are expected to be familiar with the student Handbook.  I WILL enforce all policies.  (Example:  tardies, cheating, cell phone policy)

1.  Tardiness is not tolerated.

2.  Bathroom breaks are to be taken during passing periods.  It is best to take care of restroom and office business before coming to class.

3.  You are expected to submit all of your work on time.  Remember that work is not conducive to success; you must learn to meet deadlines.

1 day late         -11 points (start with an 89)

2 day late         -22 points (start with a 78)

After 2 days a zero will be awarded!

4.  All assignments must be in pencil or pen and have the following heading in the upper left hand corner of ALL papers: 

     Name

    Class(period)

    Date

5.  As stated earlier, ALWAYS COME TO CLASS PREPARED!

6.  Title all of your work!  It is important for you to have a title for every assignment.

7.  IF YOU ARE ABSENT, THE RESPONSIBLITY FOR OBTAINING AND COMPLETING MAKE-UP WORK RESTS ENTIRELY WITH YOU!

Grading:

     a.  Test Grades=60%

     b.  Daily Grades=40%

*I do drop the lowest daily grade each six weeks(except for zeros).  You will receive a progress report each six weeks that does not reflect this action. 

*Each student receives a copy of these procedures the first day of school. 

Classroom Rules:

1.  Respect others:  (No trash talking, use good manners)

2.  Be on time

3.  No eating- drinking, and no gum chewing
